I have an older P-4 w/ 1.5 gigs of ram.
I am new to Linux and I would like something that runs Beryl pretty good.
I would also like it to be stable and boot pretty fast, something based around KDE.

I installed Kubuntu 7.10 on a fresh system and I was continously getting errors updating the system. (Something about breaking packages)

I verified the disk after I burned it and it was fine. I also checked the disk before I installed it and it also passed.

    Any suggestions? :chk:

You might have been having problems if you've added repositories not suitable for it.

Go with compiz instead of beryl. If you install compiz fusion you get everything from beryl plus some more. Beryl isnt in the repositories. Maybe its what is causing you problems?

Beryl is now an old release, the project changed it's name to Compiz Fusion. If you want to try Compiz, download Ubuntu 7.10 as Compiz is enabled by default.

However, you may need to run
to access some of the more advanced menus.
