    Greetings all.

Like many others I am busy preparing my system for Crysis, and am looking to get some advice on a system upgrade.

Right now I've got an A8N-SLI Deluxe with an Athlon XP 3500, and dual 6600 GTs. which won't cut it.

Just ordered an 8800GT which should be in any day.

The processor is a little dicier and I'm having trouble deciding what to replace it with. The obvious solution is to go with a multi-core CPU, but after surfing pricewatch I'm a little confused what to go with.

I'm thinking an Athlon 64 dual core 4200, as that is a 939 pin it should work in my board right?

The amd athlon 64 x2 4800 939 looks like a good choice too but seems to be way more expensive ($325)

Basically I'm trying to pick out a good proc that my 3-year old mobo will support and not break the bank. Any suggestions appreciated, thanks!

Any Socket 939 processor will work on that motherboard. The only thing I would make sure of is that the BIOS is recent enough to support the X2 line of Athlon64's. The 4200 or 4400+ seems to be where the better values are. I know at one poing the FX-60 was going for under $200, but I couldn't say if that's still the case today or not. I'd certainly look for that if you can.
