I have an old Pentium III HP computer. Recently I used a software program to wipe the hard drive. The hard drive will take the setup files from a new copy of Windows XP but it won't boot up to the place in the hard drive where these setup files exist. I tried this on two hard drives with the same result. Does this mean the pointer to the Master Boot Record position on the beginning of the hard drive is compromized and the pointer is pointing tho the wrong starting memory address?
