Since purchasing my Abit KV8-MAX3 motherboard I have experienced my computer crashing, freezing me out and other problems like graphics card showing a mosaic of colours instead of the desktop after working fine. I have swapped my memory because I was told to use Kingston but still glitches in my once working pc appeared. The final straw was today when my computer informed me that my newly installed windows xp was in need of repair and to insert my cd. I inserted my cd and went into the bios to alter the startup only to be frozen out of that when it appeared. I restarted and this time the bios came up with corrupted information then hung. Tried it several times but the bios eventually hung and came up with corrupted info. Switched off and replaced battery for another that was in my old motherboard and it started up. Tested old battery and found it to be 3.04 volts dc, surely enought to store information on the bios. Could this be the answer to all of my glitches or just coinsidence that changing the battery allowed it to start. After all the motherboard is only 3 month old. Any confirmation would give me a glimmer of hope after months of problems.
