Hey all, This is my first post ever so bare with me and let me know if more info is needed. I have an older PC that my brother built for me a couple years back and have continuously upgraded everything, but the motherboard and power supply. Recently I have started to have a prob with getting my comp to start, it will turn on (CPU fans, cooling fans) but will not even go to the hardware recognition screen, as in hard disk detection and dvd and cd rom drives. After I reset the camp a number of times it will then go through the boot process and everything is fine until I shut down and then have to reboot. Also I have dual processsors and half the time only one is recognized and will boot. Thanks in advance for any and all replies. Hartdocta
This sounds like a dying PSU. It usually happens when the PSU is failing and not enough power is being supplied. What PSU have you got? You'll have to open up the case and look at it.
Thanks for the response Addis, OK, the PSU looks to be a KING STAR, model #KC-250ATX, Input: 115V/230V AC 50/60Hz 6A/3A Output: 250W max +5V 25A +3.3V 14A +12V 10A -12V 1.0A +5VSB 1.0A -5V 1.0A Thanks again!!
