Well, that depends on the business. If it's more directly interfacing with a said employment, then sure, it should be allowed. However, not every place is like that. Additionally, it's simply another variation in communication (take that, MC Hammer!). We have e-mail and phones (I know I have both at work, and it's retail.), so there are other working methods that are known to work just as well. Sure, I use Facebook, but I'm the type that tends to leave my work at work. Now, I can see it being used along side e-mail and phonecalls as another tool, but I don't see it being to the point where it's necessary. Perhaps in the future, it may be a valuable tool. Perhaps it's because, while I did get into computers when I was younger, I didn't grow up with it from the cradle. Social interaction is nice, but unlike company computers, administrating a social networking site is more difficult at this point.
