Hi, im looking for a BTX mobo that can overclock, i currently have a new dell pc and im looking to replace the motherboard as dell dont let you overclock and the mothercoard wouldnt be able to take it even you could OC, hopefully with a btx one so i dont have to buy a new case aswell. I have a core 2 duo E4300 which i know has great potential for overclocking my friend has it running at 3.2ghz with a stock cooler when it starts life at 1.8ghz. Thanksssss
Your probably going to be out of luck. Intel failed to get the BTX boat moving and eventually dropped the standard. BTX is dead, for starters, so that doesn't help things. Secondly, very few retail boards with any BTX formfactor came out, most of them from Intel, who isn't known for overclocking boards. To add the problems, Dell is known to have custom-wired motherboards and accompanying power supplies. This means that along with the motherboard you will very likely need to purchase a power supply to avoid frying the motherboard. Basically, if you want to overclock, move to ATX and pick up something like the MSI P6N-SLI or Gigabyte P965-DS3. Pair that with a Corsair 450VX or 520HX power supply and pick your case. You could try to overclock via [google]ClockGen[/google], and see what you can get from that.
well that sucks alot. btx was all over before it begun *sigh* yeah i know dell dont allow overclocking, its very stupid really if i wanna void my warrantee let me god damn it :x: well anyway it looks like im gonna have too move to atx then and yeah i am gonna get some corsair RAM the dell crap would just melt if i tried overclocking... thanks alot
