My burner stopped recognizing blank DVD's suddenly today. It's a dual format double layer burner about 3 months old. I took my cpu into Best Buy and they said it could be because of some adware cookies. They wanted $70 to look at it and $150 to clean up these files. Is this something that a good spyware software could detect and delete or is there another issue? Has anyone else ran into this situation?
Damn simple............ megamaced thread will give you the best support in this. You dont have to spend even a single panny for these softwares as megamaced is dominating the security market by providing info about free softwares.lol~! http://www.hardwareforums.com/windows-xp-security-guide-9738/ There is one more thing you can do i~! Format your Hard drive and reinstall windows if its gone cookooo~! and then install these free softwares for ur future protection~!
Bad advice there Karanislove! The first thing you should look at is: Did you change any software or hardware configurations? Does the drive recognise non-blank discs? Did you upgrade the firmware? Is the media you are using officially supported by the drive? Don't just re-install Windows cause it doesn't read blanks. Troubleshoot first!
Cheers pelvis you rock, but look at the question properly. He is talking about spywares and adwares. Is'nt it?
[google]SpyBot[/google] is a pretty good adware/spyware detection and removal tool. See what that does for ya.
It's very unlikely that spyware would cause a DVD-ROM to cease functioning. At worst, spyware will steal your bank details! But it won't cause any problems with your hardware. Answer Pelvis_3's questions before we can troubleshoot further Oh, and as Karanislove suggested, have a read of my security guide
