me certainly! I was quite sad about Call of Duty 3 not coming to the PC, so I can't wait for this one. btw - - will come out earlier (newest date's September 4th) and is a title I'm very happy about as well. sweeet.
Gotta disagree with you there, I don't believe it will live up to the hype. But only because of one thing, I don't think it'll be a long game, but the whole COD series suffers from that so it's not necessarily a bad thing just a little disappointing. On the plus side it does look like they're trying to take a go at writing an original storyline for it, which is promising. On the bad side though, some people may be dissuaded by the fact it's not WWII-orientated, which is how some (including me) see the COD name.
yeah, the call of duty series is amazing, i mean i still play call of duty 2, so when modern warefare comes out, i'm going to flip a lid.
CoD1 was the best of them. My only grip with 2 was the entire health and progress system. That being where you have unlimited health as long as you seek cover after taking too many hits and the progress system where you have to bull rush ahead to make the sworm of enimes stop coming at you or respawning. In CoD1 you could play smart and pick off your targets to move through the level but with CoD2 it just feels like a sloppy mad rush the entire time. I know CoD4 has this same system so that is my only disapointment. CoD4 will live up to the Hype though. It is a proven team who has been working together for years. They are not just learning or getting their feet wet but building on that which they did so well before. Now given some teams take that experience and toss it out the window to continue to make the game worse than before (Dice with Battlefield) by adding new "features" that take away from the game rather than enhance it... much like my view from the previous paragraph. They need to build on what made the first game great, not re-invent the wheel for the sake of it. Out of all the games slated to come out over the next year, I honestly believe this is the only one worth a serious look. The others are just hype or done by novice teams that have still not worked out their production kinks or gotten a grasp for the overall gameplay that they are shooting for... or need to shoot for.
people don't respawn, they die out, and after you get hit like a couple times in a row your can only get hit once and you die. Also, its war, thats the whole points, its suppose to be a mad rush, and your not suppose to have time to yourself, i liked it a lot. Generally if you ran ahead, or tried to, you ended up dieing because you can only take a couple shots before going down. But, yes, many people did love that about call of duty and yes it was a very good game and i can understand where your coming from.
I have to disagree with you there, there are a lot of games being worked on by companies with a lot of experience, but according to your post you're not even going to consider them. Yes COD4 looks good, but it might be best to wait until it comes out to see if it lives up to the hype, I have yet to see a single game that lived up to the hype, I'm not joking. Every hyped-up game has had a major disappointment in some part of it so far, you can't make the perfect game, everyone will be unhappy with some part of a game. For example, COD4, people will hate the health system whatever they do, if they keep the regenerative health system, you'll have people wanting the old 100 health system and medkits. If you put that system in you'll have people wanting the regenerative system back. Personally though I prefer the regenerative health system, with the numbers you could look and say "I've got 95 health left and there's a medkit just up ahead, I can rush through this part and not worry." But with the regenerative health system your actual health number is quite low, so when you're near death it forces you to take cover, which is what you're meant to do in any combat situation. As far as games coming out though, I believe FO3 will beat COD4 hands down.
FO3 is to early to tell really. As I said in my post, some teams have the experience but make horrible gameplay decisions that overall ruin the game and is counter productive to all their hard work. I believe the health system of CoD 2-4 is like that as well as Dice's BF2 and 2142 lame sanctioned hacks with the all seeing eye, uav and such. Most games do not live up to hype and many games are underrated and deserve much more hype. My only point was that most games coming out soon are over hyped and I dont buy into it. Games like QW, Crysis, FLFOW, and others. I wont hold my breath.
I tend to not believe any hype or reviews myself, I go on what I think will work in a game. I've bought, played and kept games that a lot of people said were terrible. I often find I read reviews of games after I've bought them, and I've yet to find a review that said a game was terrible where I agreed with them. Also, I've found a lot of games that were said to be amazing, but I felt they were terrible, Half Life, HL2 and HL2 Episode 1 for example.
You have NO idea how much I hear that. The only good things to come from Half Life were Opposing Force (awesome TC) and Gunman Chronicles (used the HL engine). I felt a lot was lacking in the HL series on a whole.
