I currently have XP and I would like to run a dual boot. Can I simply buy the upgrade of Vista?

yes, but you'll probably need your XP CD to prove you have a qualifying XP CD to upgrade to vista on a new partition, that was how it was with Win 2k & XP i think

Yes, with a little trick. Load Vista setup in XP. Leave the product key-box empty. Choose the version of Vista that you've bought, and choose New Install. Vista will now be installed with a dual-boot config. After the install is complete, run Setup again, but this time from Vista. Enter the product key and choose Upgrade. You will now upgrade vista with your upgrade license. After the install, you should have a dual-boot between Vista and XP.

If XP doesn't appear in the list of Operating systems, then you can add it later with VistaBootPRO.
