Every time I'm on the computer for a while, I'm unable to open a folder. I can open an application if the icon is on the desktop alone, but I can't open a folder that contains applications. After I reboot it's OK again for a while. Windows XP. System restore no help. I use spybot, adaware and zonealarm.

Strange one. You say that it happens after a while so not straight away, possibly a hardware problem. When your computer is on for a while and that starts to happen reboot, go into the BIOS, and check the CPU tempature. It's possible that that could be the problem. Can you open the folder if you right-click and choose open?

Do you have a good anti-virus? AVG Free Edition might be a good place to start.

No, right click and open does nothing. Could you give the steps in doing what you suggested about BIOS. And what I'm looking for in temperature?

I have zone alarm and have also done online scans. I'm thinking some file somewhere might be getting full?
