Simple question, but flumixed by the answer. Been using CD and CDRW for years, but recently they have both gone.... The drivers are still loaded, but in device manager they have a yello explanation mark next to them. They share an IDE cable which I hace reseated, but still no joy. The only thing I have changed recently is to fit a high speed USB card and a new voice modem, but I am sure they were still working after these were fitted. Before I remove both new devices, has anyone got any ideas or tricks to try... Cheers BP
If you are willing to play with your registry then here is a possible solution: Before you do, please bear in mind that editing and messing up the registry can have fatal consequences to your Windows installation. If you are confident follow the steps below. I had a simillar problem where my ROM drives disapeared. I cannot remember if they were showing in device manager or not so this might not be the solution... good luck....
What is the reason for the exclaimation marks? Double click on your devices in device manager, and report back with the error message
Hi error message is as follows.... Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19) Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device. Cheers BP
Thanx Guys.... I did as Sabashuali posted and edited the reg. and all OK....... At a guess i think it was the re-installing of Nero crrom burning software that must have caused the problem, as the value data in the reg file had a Nero ref. Thanx again Bluepippa
