CDROM "Drve Read Error"

I am having trouble using my Toshiba intenal CDROM in my old PIII laptop. It seems to only work when it wants to. I have tried to install/use multiple CD's to test my drive. Randomly, it will give me the alert, "Drive Read Error". The driver is up to date. I installed an external HP CDROM because I needed to install a program. I get the same problem with my HP CDROM! Has anyone ran into a similar problem? At first I thought it was my Toshiba CDROM, but now that my HP CDROM does the same thing I am wondering if something is set incorrectly in Windows. I am running Win98.

Have you tried installing ASPI drivers?

I am not familiar with ASPI drivers..... can you tell me more about them?

Get the adapter ASPI drivers here, it should work on windows 98.
