    Doing a change to:

    ASUS M2N-E motherboard

    ASUS EN8800GT Video card

    AMD 64 Athlon X2, 4800+

    I have two sticks of DDR2 400 256 RAM, I have room for 4 sticks of DDR2 800.
Can I just add say two sticks of 1GB along with the 2 X 256. Or should I just go with the 2GB DDR2 800. Will it really make much of a difference?

Can I just start with the 2 X 256 to get things up and running? Will be installing XP Home.

    Other info.

    See current specs below

external HD 250 GB for back up.
    Thanks in advance.

yes you could add the 256 with the 2 x 1GB sticks but I believe the higher rated 1GB sticks will work at the lower speed of the 256 sticks.

yes you can use the 256 sticks to get XP up and running and then change the ram later.

I made a mistake. My 256 are DDR and not DDR2. The board only supports DDR2, so I will have to get the new RAM before I do anything else.
    Thanks.
