I have a new computer and plannning to sell old one. I want to ensure that hard drives are clean before I sell. i.e that files/folders cannot be recovered. I am now using ''Eraser'' software which came with my latest computer Microsoft Mag, to clean hard drive. My question is, will this be sufficient to do the job or will I ned another form of software? Your help would be much appreciated Yours ChrisB
I think that once you have formatted a drive it will take a hell of a recovery program to find anything. Even then data might be too obscure. Unless you had state secrets on there I think this should do the trick.
Actually a lot of the time, files can be recovered even after a format, thats why some tools like PartitionMagic have a secure erase option when deleting partitions.
