I am having MSI K8T Neo2 MS-6702E ATX Mainboard. It is Socket 939 model. And Athlon 64 3500+ processor. If suppose my motherboard fails at a later stage... I want to buy a mobo which suits both Athlon 64 3500+ and any other better processor like Athlon 64 FX series. So is there any better mobo other than K8T Neo2 which suits both Athlon 64 3500+ and latest FX processors?
The reason for such a thought is... if suppose my current mobo fails and I buy a mobo which suits my Athlon 64 3500+ and say after 3 months my processor fails.. then I can buy a latest processor which suits the existing mobo.
Also which is a good processor to buy if my current processor fails? There are many FX series like FX-55, FX-57 ... FX-74. SO FX-74 is the latest in FX series right? Dual core is recommended or any FX series?

    Appreciate your help !

    Thanks.

The 939 has been discontinued and the processors and boards are getting less and less to pick from. Plus the FX-60 was the fastest FX that fit Socket 939

Off-hand, I'm not sure I'd invest too much in that board anymore. If you can find a cheap Socket 939 X2 chip or FX, fine. However, as already mentioned, your motherboard uses Socket 939, which has been replaced with Socket AM2/AM2+. Additionally, it uses an AGP slot, which is basically another dead upgrade path in lieu of PCI Express (PCIe).

That said, it looks like the latest BIOS will support pretty much any Socket 939 chip you can get your hands on.
If you find something cheap, it wouldn't hurt as a last hurrah, but otherwise, if you want to upgrade, save your money.
