i have a computer with intel D845GEBV2 desktop board and a pentium 4, 2.67 ghz processor. It was working fine for 3 years now until one day it turns off immediately after turning on, i tryed to power it on for say 20 to 25 times but same result, it turns itself off after 5 seconds and then suddebly it turns itself on and then it stays on until i turn it off, and again when i try to turn it on, the same problem returns. i don't understand what the problem is since i checked for CPU over heating and i think the temp. in processor and system zone are fine about 115 to 122 F in the processor zone and 106 to 112 F in the system zones. i removed the processor cleaned the heat sink and the processor fan but the same problem persists. can anyone please tell me what the issue is with my computer as i can not figure it ot for myself
    thank you

Did you put thermal grease between the cpu and heatsink?

Sounds like the CPU is overheating. Make sure the CPU fan is spinning. If it is, as already alluded to, you'll want to make sure there's some thermal paste applied to assist in heat transfer.

This is in my opinion a power supply starting to go bad. A bad power supply can
cause some real weird problems, and if you have had no problem until now, then
the first thing I would test/check would be the power supply.

If u feel tat ur CPU cooler is making some nois or something like tat y dont u try changing ur cpu cooler??and after closing ur case's side shield jus check if some wires from the PSU r preventing the fan from normal spin...cos it deeply sounds like a temp problem only.. so chk for the cooler and try applying some thermal paste also...
