My new AMD 3200+ Athlon CPU is only detected as 2500+ in the control panel/system/general. The window states that the computer is running at 1.83Ghz. Is this correct and I should assume that the machine is running ok or is there something I should do in the BIOS? The board is an ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe.

Go in the BIOS and set the cpu external frequency to 200 mhz.
The memory frequency should be set to "sync".

That is if you have DDR400 (PC3200 memory). If you have PC2700 (DDR333) then you cannot get higher than 2500+ speed unless you overclock the memory.

    Thanks Harrack52.

I did what you said. The BIOS option is not actually 'Sync' on the board but 'SET SPD'.

    Anyway, I now get 3200+!

    Thanks again :good: .
