    Hi,

I want to buy new monitor and I wonder if TFT is good as CRT ?
I use my pc for internet, movies and music......I dont play games.
What is the best 19" monitor out there and is it better with TFT or is CRT still better for movies and pictures ?

    regards

Since you're not gaming the choice isn't as easy. While you really won't get a better picture with most any TFT display over a good quality CRT obviously they do look a whole lot better and take up less space but you have to pay a pretty big premium for the asthetics. The best CRT's are a whole lot versitile than a similarly priced TFT. A really good 21" CRT is about $400 or so. A not so amazing 20" TFT will cost more than that and you'll be limeted to 1600x1200 most of the time. You can obvioulsy change resolutions but the quality won't be so great, it will have to stretch the pixels to fill the area. 800x600 will look pretty sad on a 20" display.
The choice is yours, I wouldn't mind having a TFT but a good one is just a lot of money when you can have a kick but CRT for under $200 that will do 1920x1440.
Best bang for the buck CRT: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824001178
If you want a more screen real-estate this is sweet: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824116229
For TFT's this is really the way to go:

yeah CRT's are good, i couldnt get one because I didnt have the space, althought i might have space for a small 15" one but for CRT i guess the best way is to go big!
Here's my monitor, a big pricey but i got it cheap fromthe computer shop i used to be at :D
Its not got the greatest response time but its a good little screen and has served me well. Plus the picture is very good, some are just very hazy and not very bright...

I like both. I like my Crstalbrite laptop screen, its fast and with Cleartype very easy to read. I'd rather have a TFT in some situations, but for gaming i'd prefer CRT. CRT however isn't the easiest thing to store or move around.

You got that right, i have a big ass crt the thing weighs about 60 pounds, and i've actually moved it upstairs to my friend's room so that we can lan games. Crts are a great way to get a quick workout if you can't make it to the gym lol. My friend has a tft, and the picture just isn't quite as good when playing games or watching movies.
