Ever since I had my computer built a couple of years ago, it has been overheating - although I only realised this last year. I would be playing a game when my computer would suddenly lock-up and stop responding to any input, forcing me to restart. I installed an extra fan and an exhaust, but the effect was minimal, and I eventually had to revert to leaving the side of my case open while playing most 3d games (probably not too healthy, I'm sure).

Anyway, I was playing one of the few games that didn't require me to do this (Pro Evolution Soccer 5), and midway through my game these graphical glitches started appearing. Now everything on my computer that uses 3d graphics (plus Adobe Premiere Pro) has these same glitches, although my standard desktop usage remains unaffected, and I can play something like Football Manager 2006 (which uses no 3d graphics - in fact, it's just like playing with a spreadsheet) with no problems.

I am 90% sure that something on my graphics card (Radeon 9800 Pro 256Mb) has finally gone, and I am looking to replace it. I just want to check with you guys to see if that is definitely the case, or whether you think the problem is with something else. Here is a screenshot of Google Earth (I've uninstalled all my games) - the glitches on this are the same in any 3d program:

Your advice would really be welcomed. Thanks in advance.

This looks like the memory on your graphics card has gone bad, seems like your graphics card is at the end of the line.

have you got any really old graphics card or any graphics cards spare you can use?, or possibly borrow of a freind?, this would confirm weather it is the graphics card, and if you tried another graphics card and still got these gltiches, i would check the ram, using a program like memtest 86.
