Debug Assertion Failed

Ok I didn't know whether this was a game problem or a mouse problem, so I figured I'd start here and hope you move me if Im wrong.
Ok So my problem is: When I start up the game Battlefield 2, I get the following pop up and the game fails to load:

I have no clue what to make of this error, I have had many suggestions but all have failed to solve my BF2 problem. Please Help Me.

it sounds like a input driver problem, try reinstalling drives, also are you tried both USB and PS2 mouse?

Note: please post your system specs or use the ny computer feature to list your specs. I think people are more willing to help if you provide them something more to go on.
