I have been expirenceing performance problems on my laptop lately, and i was advised (on this forum, actually) to perform a disk defragmentation. however, whenever i try to perform a disk defrag when the counter reaches 10% it refuses to go any higher, and shortly after the computer froze and i was forced to turn it off. i would like to finish the defrag, since i have already tried purging my system of spyware, viruses, and i have fixed as much of my registry that i can without having to pay money ;) and i cant think of anything else that would make my computer run really slow
in case it matters, here are my specs
hp omnibook 4150
GenuineIntel x86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 1 (i believe its SUPPOSE to run at 600mhz, but a utility i ran reported it to be just a bit shy of 500mhz)
384.0mb RAM
ATI Rage Mobility (but i use the XPERT 98 AGP 2x Drivers)
Maestro Sound card
i realize its not agreat computer, but i think its running too slow even for such an old laptop, and so any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance
edit ===================================================
also i noticed that when i go check on 'system' in the control panel it report that my system resources are only 50 - 70% free, is this normal or is this contributing to my slow performance? thanks
