Hi guys.. First post for help. Got hold of a brand new but fault monitor from a friend. It is a 20" dell flat panel tft, but completely dead. It is a unit which was replaced, but the faulty one never collected, so I cant return to Dell for help. Ive had the back off, and got the thing working (lose connection) however after some time it starts getting lines appearing in the display, all veritcal, and about 5mm long..... Anyone know if this is a fault that can be fixed with a bit of soldering etc... If not it will probably end up in the bin.. Cheers BP
This is not true in all cases, but generally when a monitor dies, there's not much you can do unless its something minor like re-soldering a capacitor, but your problem seems a bit more serious then that. You have to send it out to the manufacturer, but in this case Dell probably won't help you. Probably time for the trash!
Repairing monitors can be quite tricky and dangerous, so i'd be careful. You could probably get it repaired for £20-£40. The monitor is probably worth £150 because it's a 20" TFT
