    Hi,

When I press the power button the following happens:

Bios comes up but seems to hang for a fair while 20 sec ish (a lot longer than it used to)

It then says windows has failed etc - start as normal etc

No matter the choice xp starts for 3 secs then I get a view of a BSOD for a fraction of a second.

    Back to the bios.

Safe mode ets as far as system32\drivers\mup.sys and then hangs

    Puter was fine last nite!

    Any ideas

    Cheers

    Kit

when you turn it on, immediatly after the bios hit F8. it will give you advanced boot options. one will be disable automatic restart (or something similiar). this will allow you to see what the BSOD is, and help narrow it down.
also, it may have diagnostic software (the bios splash screen should mention it) that will give you an error code if it is hardware based. i mention this because a dell laptop at work did this and his Harddrive had failed.
