dell xps gen 2

a friend gave me a dell xps gen 2 blue that it is broken. first i can go on thru save mode, and i tried to install windows but i couldn't. so i took it to someone that fix computers and he changed the hard drive and other things. the computer still the same. i'm not that good in fixing computer so i signed up to this site to see if someone can help me. the guy is charging me $145.00 and I don't want to keep paying more. thanks!

Wait...what? You could load windows in safe mode, but couldn't run it normally? Why did you change the hard drive. What's actually happening when you try and boot up?
