Hi, I'm not the most savvy guy when it comes to the more recent hardware so I figured I should probably come here and ask around about my current situation... I bought a new PC from a well known canadian company called MDG. When I checked their website, and when I spoke to a representative over the phone, I was told my new PC system would have a "Duo Core" processor... the website itself which shows the system I bought has the "intel Core 2 Duo" logo on it basically implying that there would be a "core 2 duo" CPU inside... however, upon receiving the system I noticed that the CPU is NOT a "core 2 duo" but actually a "Pentium D". Which according to intel's own website is clearly not a "duo core CPU". It does have dual processors, but its definitely not in the same class as a core 2 duo. So my question is, should I get a lawyer or did I basically get what I was promised. So far most people tell me that a Pentium D is garbage and I basically got ripped off. What do you guys think? Thanks, Max
It depend on how much you paid really. There is a big difference bewtween a C2D and a pentium d. In terms of actual performance the c2d will probably be better (it may depend on particular models though) but even if your pentium d does more work id still prefer the c2d. If I were you id feel ripped of, yeah. Get onto them. If you speak tyo someone who knows the components they will understand why you feel ripped off. If its new you wont need a lawyer or anything!! I dont know about canada but there are very strict rules for product descriptions and price indication over here. Pentiums are old technology now... the c2d is what the pentium should have been in the first place. Apparently intel marketing is to blame for that one.
Pentium D's are dual-core, but still, if they promised a Core 2, then I'd fully expect that processor in my box, not a Pentium D.
