Because I'm going to replace my motherboard soon, and I have a Windows 7 64-bit disc, but it's gonna suck re-installing all of my files and everything... not impossible, but I just wanted to know if I could use startup repair or something when replacing a motherboard rather than formatting and doing a fresh install. I'm hearing multiple things allover the internet, some say you can replace the motherboard, run the startup repair, and you'll be all set, while others say a fresh install is a requirement.

I'm a bit skeptical about the startup repair thing though... I mean, it'll probably WORK... but won't there be some loose drivers hanging around everywhere? What will happen to your files? Does the startup repair completely get rid of all old drivers and install new ones? That's what I hope.

What do you recommend, and what do you know? Thanks.

You should do a Fresh install,By replacing the Motherboard, all your driver will change...Unless the motherboard is a twin to the one your replacing..
A fresh install also will make your computer allot happier...
