Dual 6600's

Well OpenGL has no real performace degrecrease that I know of and we're talking about 2 6600's on one board for <$250. The specs are a lot better than a singe 6600, though double the price. But I wouldn't buy it myself unless I was feeling creative and weird/stupid.

Shouldn't, it's just one card. It should also be a lot fastet than the 6800GT in SLI, as it's like haveing 4 6600's. I know some people have SLIed their 6600's before, I just don't know about dual core...

I sort of see what you're getting at...oh well I just thought I'd keep you guys up with the new junk on the Egg.

But then again what's the point if a single 7800GTX plays every game on max settings. By the time we need more oomph they're have the 8000GTX or whatever. I can't imagine SLI being a requirement, more like an insurance.

yeah there would be no real need for it but you could do it just to say you have, i wouldnt need it as i dont game but if i had lots of money i might, or i might just have a 4 monitor set up or something just to be different :good:

Heh, well I wouldn't count on the 2-3 year thing as that's what people were saying about the 9800Pro being good on Max for 2 years and that hasn't panned out. But yeah really expensive bragging rights would be cool, if you had a ton of cash and your dad appreciated killer hardware:confused:

instead of dual 7800 gt, get 1 7800 gt and a dual core amd processor... thats also prolly good for 2 years :p hehe who knows...

maybe we will be into 4X proc. and 4X gpu by then :D

Ah, thanks bud:), I have to pay them in cash for whatever I buy then they put it in the bank to compensate for the spending.

im not interested unless you can pair up two of those cards on sli still would only have performance little above a 6800GT

nVidia has said that the plain 6600's are now SLI okay. I think they came out with that about a month ago or so. From what I can remember off the top of my head, I believe it's simply a driver deal. Of course it'd have to be considering the 6600's don't have the bridge connector on them.
