Dual boot problem

hi

Can u pls help me.....in order to make my comp into a dualboot machine i have installed linux first and left some space for windows98 but after that i couldnt install linux ...... now i have erased linux and trying to install windows 98 first but still linux is present in the hard disk i think .......im allowd to partiton the disk but cant install win98...

pls help me

ps: when i boot from harddisk there is a prompt like"GRUB>"

Your description is a bit sketchy. You are saying that you installed Linux and then could not install linux. In order to install two OS on one drive you need to have at least two primary partitions, one for each OS.
Please detail how your drive is partitioned.
 
what you need to do is reset your master boot record. If you are using Windows 98 then restart in MS-DOS or run off an MS-DOS startup disk. Once you are in the prompt type 'fdisk /mbr'. That will remove the linux grub loader.

You need to install Windows 98 first on the primary partition, then install Linux in the extended partition.
