Dual Channelling RAM

Hi, my motherboard - a Soltek SL-865-PE-L says on the box that it supports Dual Channel DDR400. I have 2x512 sticks of ValueRAM, and am wondering how to go about Dual Channelling them. (I'll find the exact type of ValueRAM later).

Thanks,

Well, you have 4 DIMM slots, in 2 pairs. Just from the way other i865PE motherboards are, you want to have one stick in both pairs. I think all you'd need to do is move one stick to another slot. Something like a stick in DIMM 1 and DIMM 3, or DIMM 2 and DIMM 4. Check your manual just in case though.

is that all there is to it? great, thanks. I will check the manual first tho. don't want to blow anything up.

What sort of percentage in speed will i notice? I've been told its only around 2-3%, but it's still worth doing.

thanks!

ok so i checked the manual, it was as you said. booted up, ram showed on screen, read dual channelled. So i guess it's all ok.

thanks mon ami :D

That's with the Athlon. The P4 loves bandwith, and you should get at least a 10% increase from what I've read.

yep, its that simple! you should see some increase, I've read between a 5% to 10% maybe!
