Some time this year is about all I know. This is a guess, but depending on how hard AMD is wanting to push, they could range anywhere from $150-500+. I can picture a couple of scenarios: AMD making dual-core available for everyone, or offering it to the mid-range to high-end or even high-end only. Without figures from AMD, I'm really just speculating at this point, but unless something drastic happens, you will see dual-cores from the company sometime this year, and probably sooner than later.

What you can be sure of is that they'll be in Socket 939 for the desktop and Socket 940 for the Opteron market...and no, Socket 939 and 940 aren't interchangable.

You can get a pretty good A64 right now for good gaming performance, but if you are prepared to wait for the dual core CPUs (which will peobably be a bit after Intel's dual-core CPUs) then you can have better multi-tasking performance.
