Hello me again, you guys must think i'm really stupid.

Well here's another dumb question, I'm trying to make a back up of my hard drive using Nero and a DVD+RW.

Everytime it starts the back up, after a few seconds it stops due to the DVD not being formatted. Now I thought this did it automatically.
I have also tried it on AVS video tools and the same thing happens.

Any ideas how I can format the disk without trying to perform any burning? I have never used this brand of DVD+RW before and the whole pack of 5 is doing the same thing. Am I missing something?

shut up, or i'll slap your legs

    BTW:everybody has to learn

    careful

right, you should usually only format a disc once before you start to use it, and if you have problems with a disc, usually a quick wipe is enough to blank a preformatted disc, however a full wipe is sometimes needed to sort some errors out, if you keep having problem with a disc you can reformat it, however, you can only reformat a disc about 20 times, after which the disc makes a very good coaster
unfortunately i'm using linux & havn't used XP or nero for quite a while yet, although i'll look on net

Edit: at first i found this

Edit: being thinking, when i used XP i used CDBurnerXP because it's free (although i can't remember if it does DVDs

Wait a sec. Are these DVD RW discs new and blank? As in, fresh out of the store? Or do you already have stuff on them?
