I have a Plextor PX-716 IDE DVD drive, and am using Roxio CD Creator Basic 7.

I have a non-commercial (personal) DVD that was apparently burned using the "VIDEO_TS" method. This is a valid method for the Roxio software, according to the documentation.

I am attempting to burn to a 8X DVD-R disc. I have attempted multiple burns, burning directly from disc to disc, from disc to image to disc, etc. I have also tried different speeds. The copies don't work, and I can't even "Explore" the files.

I have 2 twin computers, with the same hardware, and have attempted the burn on both, so it doesn't appear to be a hardware problem, at least from a defect standpoint.

While I've thus far not been able to successfully burn, I'm racking up on the coasters!

Any help with this is greatly appreciated!

Video_TS is the standard for movie DVDs I think. You might want to try [google]Elby Clone DVD[/google] which can copy most DVDs and for me has worked brilliantly.

Thanks for the input guys. Unfortunately I had downloaded and used CloneDVD (non-Elby) before you told me not to. It didn't work either.

So here's my next question. I believe my burner is a +R. The DVDs I have are -R. Could there be incompatibility?

VIDEO_TS.IFO files are best burnt to a DVD using VSO CopytoDVD, it's also a good app for burning data to DVDs too, not just vid files. :)

i have never had as problem backing up my dvd collection. i have always used dvd shrink and it has never failed trust me it will work. regarding ur burner.....it is not possible to burn a -r disc on a +r burner. use dvd shrink to burn ur dvd to hdd then go and get some +r discs or the other alternative is to get a newe burner
