Ok i have recently built a new PC, started to install windows and once i got to the last screen that required user input i left it to install. Came back to a PC on but blank screen. So i restarted and selected "Use last know good configuration". windows booted and came to the new user screen where it says take a tour and turn on auto updates etc... At this time i put a cd in the dvd drive. As soon as it started spinning the screen corrupted and the PC crashed. I then Booted into safe mode and tried the DVD drive and it worked fine i even managed to install a few drivers. Went back into windows and just thought maybe it was a one off. Went to install the wireless from cd and again the problem occured. After spending a few days on it i have discovered that accessing the dvd/cd in the dvd drive seems to corrupt the display and freeze the computer. Any ideas as to why this is?

try unhooking it and see if windows runs fine without it connected, Next try another power connector...

This might be way off but maybe your missing the CD/DVD files from the Windows installation? Try this:

    1. Insert your Windows XP disc (close the installation popup)
    2. Type in CMD in RUN, and then press enter.
    3. In CMD, type in SFC/SCANNOW

Hopefully your system won't crash if you insert the disc without running it. If it doesnt crash then let the SFC run. It may take a while :x:
