Hi Hope you can shed a light on the following: I inserted a DVD and played a bit. Just to check VLC. When I finished, the media (DVD) would not eject. It kept saying the device was busy. I tried to un-mount via the terminal only to get the same message. What do I do if this happens again? Or what do I do to prevent it from happening? Cheers.....
Hmm, interesting. I haven't seen that bug in years, seems it exists on Ubuntu. Anyway, have you tried ejecting it as root? In Ubuntu, it goes something like this: Code: sudo eject /dev/cdrom Or if the CD is in your second drive: Code: sudo eject /dev/cdrom1
Verbosity? How dare you!!!!!!! What the hell is that? Sorry, my English is obviously not up to scratch. Seriously now - All I get is a message that the device is busy. It is OK. No biggy. I hardly have DVD's in the drive at the moment as I am still working out what good DVD programs can I use. Thnaks
Verbosity in this case is text feedback from a program. I was asking exactly what error message the program was giving you. By the way, I've found that in my own experiences Xine is the best for DVDs (requires decss library to play encrypted DVDs), and Mplayer is best for every other kind of video. I use amaroK for audio, but XMMS with the ALSA plugin is also very good (exactly like Winamp).
Hi I guessed that much..... (regarding the Verbocity). It sounds like such a rude word..... No, I just get that message - device is busy. No worries, mate. I am not fased off by that. I have installed VLC and I also have Xine going (don't ask.... it is all news to me.). I am not sure what I used so far for audio.... must check that one out. Using Gnomebaker for cd-recording and actualy looking for a good free AVI to DVD convertor or Author. Found something on http://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=242455 swear: do they know their stuff or what :swear: ) but have not had the chance to try it yet..... Thanks again
