Have suddenly had a rash of requests for memory sticks at work, but we are not happy about issuing these adhoc as we are concerned about the security of the data held on these should the items get lost. We have looked into software encryption - but this would mean installing on 6000+ PCs including laptops that generally aren't connected to the network and also, some users use the memory sticks for auditing purposes in Schools so the software would need loading onto the Schools PCs too. The cost of this encryption software looks like being about £50 a pop - way out of our budget range for this number of PCs. Has anyone out there come across a USB memory stick with built in encryption - say PIN or password encryption within the device itself?? I would appreciate any assistance. Thanks in advance
something like this maybe? http://www.usbdrive.com/website/products/driverless.html oh I just found this around £18.50 each, you might be able to get a discount on bulk orders. http://www.directusbstore.com/cnb/s...catalogue-product_info-null&prodCategoryID=19 or even cheaper here http://www.usbflash.com/
This is fab - I can't believe you found something so quickly, the guys have been looking for ages!!!! Thanks v much Sniper!!!
If software is a concern you may want to look into Sony's microvault line or Lexars Secure lineup of jump drives. Both come with the encryption software included and the prices aren't much different than your average run of the mill card.
