i was going to try XandOS but during install it gets to 69% (unpacking skype) when it gives an error code of: 2000 and offer to save log file to floppy (i think i attatched it) any ideas, cos the log file just looks like crap
Note the following: Code: Selecting previously deselected package skype. It seems like that's the problem based on your error logs.
Usually its defective media when that occurs, I've had a few mandriva dvds go bad because the discs were low quality and burned at high speeds.
Honestly, it wouldn't be fair to say. I did a review on it years ago, but I haven't used it once since then. My initial impression was "polished corperate desktop". The commercial version comes with Crossover Office built right in so you can run MS Office right out of the box.
