i was sitting in Arby's today for lunch, and i was like, well, Fast Food places are still doing well, and then i started to wander. All i see of the UK is through you guys and what little i get of British television/news. So, just curious but are there fast food places in the UK??

Lots of Dominoes, McDonalda/Burker King, Subway and stuff. But the best are the Indians and Chinese places. Many are crap but some are very good.

Kebab shops are usually pretty grim. The news has been reporting 1000 calories kebabs with 125ml of fat in the last few days.

I couldnt say for sure but given our drinking culture i'd imagine we have a huge fast food market in comparison to other coutries.

Thats crazy, i didn't realize that, those kebabs are pretty sweet though if you like looking to eat a couple meals a day, via, not having "folding money" to buy food with... lol, even though your heart my give out after a meal. HAHAHA... chinese, which isn't even chinese, its like westernized conception of what Chinese is. Yeah though, me to, i love me some "chinese" but i hardly ever eat at them. HAHA.. i always feel like the staff are talking about me (as i don't understand chinese)

Yeah we have a few, mainly curry take-aways :D

I think the nearest McDonalds / Burger King / KFC is about 7 miles away! My first choice for take-away fast-food stuff is Greggs bakers to get a sausage roll or pasty. Mmmmmmmmmmm.

Oh yeah, the sandwich shops! Philpotts is one run by our family. Last time I was up to date they had 13 shops turning over 6m a year! They are due to open another 15 soon.

And Fish and Chips!!! But who eats chips from the chippy nowadays!?

Crikey! I thought Fish and Chips was our most famous export!
They are all the same. Chips, Fish, Sausage or battered burger. Washed down with a pot of mushy peas or curry sauce.

Usually the chips are too fatty and soggy instead of crispy. Battered fish from the chippy is better. The sausages are reformed crap and ive never dared to have a battered burger. The curry doesnt taste too bad but is a worry to ones health and the mushy peas are usually ok.

A scottish import (which is very very nice!) is battered mars bars! I used to have 2 day for my dinner at school. The rest of my dinner/bus money went on 10 fags. Im surprised im not dead!

But overall if you want a meal from the chippy your best off getting a chinese meal! I'll be brave and say 99.9% of fish and chip shops are owned by chinese people. Special fried rice or chicken fried rice please! You don't offered "sore finger" (salt n vinegar!) on the chinese meals.

If fish and chip shops isnt what reminds you of the uk what is? I would have thought it to be fish and chips, the queen and a posh accent?

BAHAHAHA, thats funny, but yeah, i'd definitely say that the first thing that comes to mind when some one says Fish and Chips is the UK, but i haven't ever heard the term Chippy before, well, until now.

    :( I've never tried one!

Dinner as in the Yorkshire dinner or rest of the world dinner (I'm in Yorkshire, and I get funny looks when I say I'm having dinner at 12pm from non-Yorkshire-folk!)?
