i have a 80gb wester digatil im useing it to store mp3s movies and other things that take up lots of space buyt recently all hte files on it have been getting corrupted one case was this had an mp3 played fine then it started messing up then it got bad it whent from about 3mins to 60 secs and trust me on this i tried it over and over it played a videos to ????? i was wondering if it was the media player i was useing so i tried it on winamp no luck then i tried mplayer for windows and when i tried that it played a video that the audio on it was nothing like the normal mp3 also it played video the video was chopy and had green line on it but it was still a video and it wasnt just the mp3 data somehow being played on video becuase the video was of people ?? kinda like the old myth of spining a record backwards this is not the only time it happened i was downloaing a movie with utorret well i whent to bed in the morning it said to recheck the torret becuase there was a file missing so i was like ok no biggy then the torret restarting at 0% then i was getting mad becuase i was only like 2% left to get done allmost all my mp3s are starting to get parts missing, im sure it something with my harddrive becuase i have a few not on that drive and those where fine im think that the head on the drive is scratching the disk becuase the mp3 i allmost never listin to arent messed up but my favs are bad ironic if i put a new file on and leave it for a week its fine but if i put a mp3 on and keep it on repeat for a week its allmost gone by the end of the week im going to open up my computer to make sure my drive is still level and the screws are tight
Ok! lets try this............ chkdsk c: same with all the drives you have on your computer.......... Edit: Dont do anything else while checking disk.
i have 2 drives my c dive works fine but my 2nd is d and its the only messing up i did scandisk and the option to scan for surface errors and nothing was wrong chkdisk seems not to work becuase all it dose is tell me that scandisk can fine more errors and then tell me what my drives capitcy cand sectors and thing like that
ok! time to backup all your important stuff before things get out of hand....Other than that, I have no idea on how to repair a HDD. There are some softwares out there but they will cost you a lot and I dont think so, its a better idea to buy a software(when your data is not lost) instead of a new HDD.
this sucks bad becuase its a new harddrive to i guess im going to try someother thing and realy test this thing out by copying some files and seeing why and how they mess up and see if i can fix it but tanks for the help
update: well im not sure but im testing it now but i had a few trogans on my comp guess i do need some kind of anti-something i never realy used them before but know that im doing some things and im dling from well less creditable sites im on the look out

yea i got avast i like it becuase i can still play games as it scans my friends scnner makes him lag so bad and he has a better comp than me
they seem to be stoped now that i ran an anit virus and got rid of some trogians but as i siad in the update its benn only 3 days so i cant tell the diffrence also i noticed that file sizes dont change 100 now i would of got one in the lets play movies but i dont know naymorvies with y in them
