floppy. pulled from an ibm, known working condition. Put it in my friend's 2400+ sempron, ecs l7s7a2 motherboard, 9600SE, 512mb ram, rig. Doens't work. Tried changing the cable, and such. Is the red strip of the ribbon supposed to be on the edge or middle of drive? I can't get it to work any which way.
Uh, I've got mine on the edge of the drive, surprised it doesn't work, so you put a disk in and opened up the A-drive folder etc. and nothing? Assuming the pins weren't damaged and the cabel's good I don't get why it doesn't work. I've seen 2 variation of the floppy cable and floppy pin orientation so I got pretty confused, the one that didn't look liked it fit properly (not all pins covered by cabel) but it worked. Try another PC if you can?
hmm. Not a surprise I've never been able to get a floppy pulled from a 100% completely working PC to work.
Floppies and drives are really unreliable. The former being the most susceptible to gentle movement, aging, sunlight...
