    Hi all

Still banging on with my MP3 player.
This time I would like to format it.
In Windows one will right click on the Icon representing the drive (USB mass stirage)
and has the option to format the drive.

Is there an equivalent for linux (Mandriva)?
I tried to go through the 'Mount Points' in the Control Centre but there is no mention of the drive even when it is connected and showing under devices.
Am I looking in the wrong place?

    Thanks

No, that's exactly where you'd do it. Of course, the drive must be mounted to be interacted with. One question: why do you want to format the MP3 player? Why woudn't just deleting the contents suffice?

    Hi

Obviously I will have to explicitly mount it once it is connected because at the moment when it is connected, I can see it under 'Devices' and I can see it in Hardrake. But I cannot see it along the others under 'Mount Points' (i.e. with hdc, hdd and sda).

The reason for formatting is the need to start fresh. I noticed that after a few transfers and deleting the player gets a bit screwed up. Folders start disapearing from view but are very much there, my player tries to be 'fat boy slim' or moby, mixing bits of songs together. I am not joking you.....

So I thought I'll format it and start again. As I double boot (ohhhhh look at him with his double boot :p ) I just do it under windows. Maybe it was a one off and I will not have to do it again. I just do not want to go into Windows....

I DON'T WANT TO DO IT! PLEASE MA DON'T LET THEM MAKE ME.....PPLLLLLEEEEEAAAAASE MA............... :eek:hah:

Yeah, I can understand that. I'm sorry I'm not the best person to help you with this problem, as I really don't interact with USB storage devices very often. And in those rare occassions when I have, it's been plug 'n go with no effort involved. I think the kind folks over at irc.freenode.net #mandriva may be able to help you out. A lot of friendly and knowledgable people hang out there 24/7, and many of them are even devs.
