Okay first off about a year ago my desktops motherboard fried. So instead of looking into it at all i just bought a laptop. Well coming back to it i now see motherboards are pretty affordable. So staying under 150 bucks what motherboard do you think i should get. I dont want to have to mod the computer or anything for it to fit. I guess minor modding could be acceptable but id like one that would be as compatible as possible. Any other suggestions that you would have would be great but heres a few links.

First heres the computer that i have that the motherboard fried:
HP Pavilion Media Center m8100n Desktop PC Product Specifications HP Pavilion Media Center TV m8100n Desktop PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)
Here is the actual motherboard that it has:

Motherboard Specifications, MCP61PM-HM (Nettle) - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

And lastly heres a few of the motherboards i was looking at but i dont know anything about the specifications and everything. We were looking to get one that was equal or better to it in performance:
IntelĀ® Media Series Micro ATX Motherboard 1066/1333MHz (Socket 1156) $114.99

Asus ATX Motherboard 2000/1600/1333/1066MHz (Socket LGA 1156) $154.99

IntelĀ® DP55WG ATX Desktop Motherboard (Socket LGA 1156) $154.99 / reviews and ratings

If you know of any others that would work feel free to let me know we were looking to stay under 150 dollaars however so if ya can help at all that would be awesome thanks!

    Hi,

The motherboard you currently have has an AM2 cpu socket type. The three that you are currently looking at are a socket LGA 1156 which are not the same and your current processor Athlon 64 X2 (W) 5600+ 2.8 GHz (89W) will not fit in. When looking for a new motherboard, you need to make sure that it has the same cpu socket type as your current processor. You also need to be sure that it supports your current RAM that you have. Your current ram seems to be DDR2 PC2-5300 (667mhz) so you want a motherboard that supports that. Your current motherboard has integrated video so you will want a new motherboard that has that unless you are planning on buying a video card to install in it. If you do want a seperate video card, just be sure the motherboard has a slot for it, either PCI, PCIe (express), or AGP slot. Another thing you need to check on is the form factor of the motherboard you are looking to buy. The form factor is the physical size, will it fit inside your current computer case? Your current board is a micro ATX board so if it just fits in your case, you should stick with a micro atx board. If you have a big case, like a mid or full size tower, you can go for an ATX sized one. It sounds like a lot to check but just remember, check the cpu socket type, RAM type, integrated video or not, if not expansion slot type for video card, and form factor (micro atx or something larger). Something like this might work for you Newegg.com - BIOSTAR N68S AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA MCP68S Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
