Future cpu pricing?

I'm just wondering if you guys think that the P4 EE chips will come down in price allot once intel releases its dual core cpu's? I know there is a 3.46 EE right now and I hear there is going to be a 3.7 EE.

I'm just thinking of buying a p4 3.4/ 925EX board which has the 1066 FSB capabiliity. And maybe upgrade in a year or so to a EE if the price is right rather than spending the insane amount they are asking for it now. I guess it also depends what future cpu's will be compatible with that mb. What do you guys think?

personally, I would get an AMD FX58 - it's a 2.9Ghz clock, but it literally beats the pants off the EE.

And it's probably cheaper.
 
Intel will go up to a 3.8GHz P4, simply because they've had too much trouble trying to hit 4GHz with the Prescott core. From what I can tell, they're looking to do more work per clock cycle rather than upping the CPU speed anymore. Knowing the way Intel works, you're highly likely to see a new CPU socket by the time they put out the dual-cores. Before they do, AMD will have released their dual-core CPU's.

Personally, I'd go with an AMD setup. Not because I'm a mindless AMD fanatic, but because for the money you spend, you get more performance. The latest and greatest from Intel don't do much, if anything, over the past P4's and their two main chipsets: Canterwood (i875) and Springdale (i865). Right now, AMD is the leader in performance. Clear across the board, no, but the vast majority of benchmarks between comparable AMD and Intel systems shows AMD with better performance for the same amount of money. I endorse whatever company puts out the best performance with stability for the best price.
