Well...it all began with a simple case transfer...or what shoudl ahve been. But for some odd reason, now that everything is in the new case, the computer wont recognize my hard drive. Now, the only thing i can think of that has gone wrong is that i may have accidently plugged the 5v cable in upside down on the drive and tried to start it. Could this have fried the drive? Also, i am using a different psu...but when i tried to go back to the old one--still no go. I have no clue what to do next. Thanks for any advice.
It's not possible to plug the molex in the wrong way around, not without alot of force that is. The first things i'd check is the IDE cable. Make sure there are no seriously bent or broken wires. Make sure it is firmly in it's slot. Also check the jumper isn't loose or missing altogether.
Ok, i will double check the IDE but i know for sure i put the molex in upside down. The drive is old and the psu is old and it didnt feel any different when i plugged it in the first time and afterwards i reenacted it (unplugged of course) and it did prove not too difficult to put it in upside down.
