I have had my computer for a while, and just recently i've been having a problem. BIOS wont consistently detect my 80gb IDE hard drive. I have tried the HD on different cables, and different computers. With different cables, there is no difference, but on different computers, its fine. Does this mean the ide connectors are bad on the motherboard(and i will need to replace it)? Or could this be something else?

    Thanks in advance,
    Nate

    Welcome to HWF Nate

Jst confirming that if you have tried differnt power cables as well for that HDD??
If your IDE cable is working with other things then I doubt if ur cables are faulty.... Remove the IDE cable from the CD ROM drive and hook that HDD with it....Also du u have another HDD hooked up in ur computer??
