well i had a maxtor one touch 4 plus or something like that, lost the power cord and bought a new one. It might not have the right one cause when i plugged it in it turned on for a second then turned off and just blinks the light thats on the front and the computer never recognizes it so i took it apart not really thinking, just mad, but hoping i can take it apart and somehow get my data off it, if by putting into a computer or something. any help would be awesome!! thanks again
If it says unallocated, you have to partition the hard drive first, then you have to format it. If you are running Windows, you right click on the computer icon on your desktop (or in the start menu) and choose manage. Click on disk management, then right-click on the drive that says it is unallocated. Choose "create partition". Create the partition, and it should ask you if you want to format it - say yes (quick format). You should have access to it immediately.
