HDD dead??

Ok, this is a long story, but may be useful if you know more. I bought a new case and was taking my stuff out of my old case and putting in my new one, I could not finish because I had to go to work, and while I was at work my little brother had turned it on, couldn't figure out how to turn it off so he unplugged it while it was on.

When I got home and found out what happened I first finished assembling it,then turned it on and got nothing on my screen. So I started swapping parts that I knew worked with a friends computer to find the problem. It turned out that the processor was dead.

So I took his processor and put it in my computer and started it up. All that BIOS info popped up been then once it got to the part with the "press f2 for setup or f11 for boot menu" my computer completley freezes. There is NOTHING I can do from there. So I tried a different hdd, and it worked, so somehow something is wrong with my hdd. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem is??

firstly is the BIOS set to automatically detect HDDs, also check the boot priority & does your BIOS auto detect the HDD also try a known working IDE cable and try using a different molex connector and try setting the drive to C/S (cable Select) & remove all other IDE devices (assuming you HDD is IDE)

you could also try setting the HDD as slave and change the boot priority to boot from IDE1 (again assuming it's IDE), if it still doesn't work, i'd consider a new drive any help ?

I have tried other hdd's and they worked fine, I've switched up molex connectors, but like I said, when I have my hdd in I cannot change any options in the BIOS, the computer freezes before I even get the chance.
