I have Windows 7, the hard drive is 500 GB Western Digital.

Yes, really, 10KB/S not MB. It used to transfer at some MP/S, now it's literally a crawl. What could cause this?

I tried transferring my files, and nothing works, it's just way too slow. It is through USB 2.0, I tried switching wires to no avail. I also tried rebooting the HDD and taking it out of it's case. Same problem.

I have EXTREMELY important files on this, and formatting is NOT an option. Is there anything I can do at all?

Also, trying to open the files as well as browsing the HDD is EXTREMELY slow as well.

I have no viruses on my PC, and my PC runs fine.

Make sure you have the most current USB drivers on your PC. Not having this will slow down the transfer considerably. Come back if it does not solve the issue.
