    Hi

Not sure how obvious it is but Hebrew is my firts language and mother tongue.
I have a few israeli CD's which I would like to rip and MP3 so I can put them in my MP3 player.

Now, although the audio encoder program (KAudiocreator) could not care less what language the tracks are in, all the information is shown in squigly writing rather than hebrew.

I installed every package that had anything to do with hebrew support but how do I actualy get the application to realise that they need to use hebrew fonts?

Toda raba lkulam - or in english, thanks to everyone for any information....

While on the subject, Windows has a visual, on-screen keyboard (apart of the accessability utilities) which the user can type using mouse clicks. The keyboard can have different languages to use. Is there something simillar for Mandriva?

I know that Linux supports more languages and more localizations than any other operating system, but honestly I've only used English/US so I can't vouch for it myself. I've heard that Mandriva provides very good Hebrew support, as does Ubuntu, but I don't know where to point you for more information (currently asking around on Mandriva's developer IRC channel, fingers crossed). There is a Hebrew software pack for Mandriva Linux called Ehad, maybe that will help you out?

    Thanks AT for the link.

I think the Hebrew distro is Hebrew based i.e. everything is hebrew rather than Hebrew where there is a need for it....
I am not sure I would like to completely go hebrew.
I would prefer to stay english with the option to view Hebrew text where available.

Looking forward to hearing from you .....

Ahh I see, so you only want Hebrew supportfor a few purposes then and not the entire distro. Well, I used Mandriva Control Center's software installation tool to search for any software with the word "Hebrew" in the description, and came up with 17 programs. Not one of those is what you're looking for?

BTW, still looking for an answer from the developers. I know a couple of the developers are Israeli, but I haven't been able to get a hold of them today.

So far the packages I installed did not do the trick.

I suppose I can try a few more.

I had the same problem with Windows before I learned how to enable hebrew support. Even then it did not always work. To be honest it is not that cruical. I can just translate to English. I am really only talking about a handful of CD's....

Be interesting to see what your other 'search' yeild.

    Thanks!
