I'm trying to upgrade my PC - but I'm also trying to pay my bills. So I'm trying to be cheap. I currently have a BFG GeForce 7950 GT 512 MB (BFG GeForce 7950 GT 512MB GDDR3 SLI Ready PCI Express Dual DVI HDTV Video Card BFGR7950512GTOCE at TigerDirect.com) Also, my motherboard is a EVGA nForce 590 SLI Am2 940Pin Motherboard (EVGA nForce 590 SLI NVIDIA Socket AM2 (940) ATX Motherboard Audio PCI Express SLI Dual Gigabit LAN USB 2.0 & Firewire Serial ATA RAID 122-M2-NF59-AX at TigerDirect.com) That card, and my motherboard, both support SLI. I'm trying to get the most bang for my buck. Should I buy a new video card and replace my old one, or try to find another BFG GeForce 7950 GT 512 card to run in SLI? Aside from not knowing which would be better - I'm not sure how identical my 2nd card needs to be to run in SLI mode. Can I get 'any' PCIe card that supports SLI and stick it in? If not, what about a eVGA GeForce 7950 GT 512? NewEgg and TigerDirect both no longer sell the card I currently have. So, I'm not sure wtf I'm supposed to do. On Ebay, I found very, very similar cards - but none that were identical. For Example - this card: http://cgi.ebay.com/GeForce-7950GT-...5|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318|301:1|293:1|294:50 It's a GeForce 7950GT KO 512 - would that work? Any help is greatly appreciated.
you can't bang in any pci express card next to your cureent card for sli, because it wont work. you have to have the same series and model of card. your best off going for the same make and model as your current graphics card then you knows it guranteed to work in sli. But the card you got is practically old skool, its 3 series behind. best off consindering an upgrade.
How much would you be willing to spend on a new card? You can get a 9500 GT for $50 at newegg:Newegg.com - Galaxy 95TGE8HUFEXX GeForce 9500 GT 1GB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
